Arcane Lineage How to Get and Use a Lineage Shard
The free reroll item, the level 10 lock, and why wiping a good character for a thumbnail race is a bad trade.
A Lineage Shard is how you reroll race without paying Robux. It is also how a lot of players delete a perfectly fine level 12 because a video said their lineage was “trash.” This page is the how-to-get and how-to-use version, written so you spend the shard on purpose.
Read the races overview before you farm one. Read the class guide so you know which passive you are actually chasing.
What a shard does
Used on a character that is level 10 or higher, a Lineage Shard wipes the current character and rolls a new race. Hair still comes from your Roblox avatar; the lineage recolors it. Starting stats and the racial passive change. Your muscle memory for the QTE does not. That last sentence is why shards are not a personality reset — they are a stat reroll with a corpse attached.
Shards are also a material for certain late enchants, including routes that mention Reaper. If you are hunting an enchant and a reroll at the same time, decide which job the shard is doing before you click.
How to get a Lineage Shard
There is no single guaranteed spawn. Community-tested sources, which you should re-check on the Trello after a patch:
- Mysterious Merchant. Buys and sells rare junk. A shard often sits in the rotation for a few thousand gold (community ranges land around 3,600–4,400 in Normal-scale prices; Hard income makes that cheaper in time).
- Boss drops. Any real boss can drop one. This is why the boss guide is also a shard guide.
- Cursed Skies. While that world state is active, regular creatures can drop a shard at a low rate.
- Other limited events. Seasonal tables move. Discord pins beat month-old thumbnails.
You can also ignore the shard and buy an extra soul slot for 200 Robux. That keeps the old character. A shard does not.
When you should not reroll
- You are under level 10. The item will not do the job you want.
- You cannot dodge yellow yet. A new race will not teach the bar. Use the combat guide first.
- Your race is “fine” and you are bored. Boredom is not a passive. Finish a Super Class.
- You are about to unlock a Super Class this session. Rerolling now throws away the Essence you already banked.
When a reroll is correct
- The racial passive actively fights the class you enjoy. A magic-leaning lineage on a cestus Monk is a long, sad joke.
- You have a party that can reclear early bosses, so the lost levels are a weekend, not a month.
- You already read the race tier list and you are chasing a specific pairing, not a vibe.
After the wipe
You are back to a new body. Repeat the beginner checklist: Hard mode if it reset, Daze if you lost it, weapon, trainer. Spend the first levels on Endurance again. The stat calculator helps you avoid copying a late-game spread onto a fresh roll.

Shards sit at the intersection of items, races, and updates. If a patch notes “lineage” or “reroll,” come back here. Until then, treat every shard as a loaded decision, not as loot you are obligated to click.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What level do I need to use a Lineage Shard?
Level 10 or higher. Using it wipes the current character and rolls a new race.
Is there a free way to reroll besides shards?
Not a clean one. Extra soul slots cost Robux and keep the old character. Shards are the gold-and-loot path.
Do shards drop from any boss?
Community tables say any boss can drop one, with extra low-rate drops during Cursed Skies. Confirm the live card on Trello after patches.
