Arcane Lineage Beginner Tips

The first hour is a checklist. Learn it before you wipe, not after.

Beginner Tips and Tricks

Arcane Lineage does not explain itself. The Roblox page lists five keys and then drops you into a turn-based RPG with lives, random races, and a QTE that decides whether your build was ever real. This page is the shortcut. Read it before you spend a life learning what the first hour actually asks.

Difficulty settings — Trials, not Hard mode

Hard mode, Normal mode, and Legendary mode were removed in December 2025. The current system is Trials — optional modifiers you configure on a living character through the Spirit Domain menu (press M on a meditation mat). The Trials guide has the full modifier list.

Lesser Trials are the starter multiplier. Greater Trials are for characters who already clear packs without dying. Never enable Greater on a first life.

What to do in the first hour

The opening hour is a specific sequence. Deviating from it is how players spend their first three lives in the wrong order and then call the game broken.

  1. Spawn in Caldera Town. Press Left Ctrl to toggle location icons.
  2. Talk to Yorn. He gives Daze — the first skill worth having.
  3. Talk to H.T. Louie to unlock Mator’s Encyclopedia.
  4. Do the Bounty Board. Refresh with the Guild Clerk if the list is trash.
  5. Hit level 5. Farm slimes outside town.
  6. Buy a weapon. The shop is up the ladder, left of Yorn. Five weapons, roughly 50 gold each.
  7. Talk to the matching trainer. Warrior, Thief, Slayer, Martial Artist, or Wizard — one trainer per weapon.

The getting started page has the full walkthrough.

Class trainers and what they lock

Buying a weapon locks you into that trainer. The class unlock guide has the exact steps.

Stat allocation — three points per level

Every level grants three stat points to distribute. The calculator is on the stat calculator page.

Early lives last longer with Endurance and Luck. Magic lines want Arcane. Physical lines want Strength. Speed affects turn order but is not the first priority.

Do not spread points evenly. Pick a role and commit. A spread build is only viable if you already know why you are breaking the rule.

The QTE timing bar — yellow is the whole game

The timing bar is not a tutorial. It is the game. When the bar turns yellow, press Space (or your mapped dodge key). Miss it and you take damage. Dodge it and you do not.

The combat guide has the full breakdown. The short version: yellow is honest. Practice until the dodge is reflex, not reaction.

Random race — what to do

Your first race is random. Some races synergize with magic classes. Some synergize with physical classes. If the roll fights your weapon choice, you either buy another soul slot or farm a Lineage Shard after level 10.

The races page has the full list. The best class for every race has the pairing rules.

Party play is designed, not optional

The official Roblox description says solo makes the game harder. This is not marketing. A second player covers a missed dodge. A fourth player turns a boss from a lecture into a fight.

The party guide explains grouping mechanics.

What not to do in the first hour

  • Do not buy a second weapon because the model looks cooler.
  • Do not spend a Lineage Shard because the first race felt wrong.
  • Do not enable Greater Trials on a fresh character.
  • Do not try to solo a named boss before level 20.
  • Do not ignore the Bounty Board — it funds the first weapon.

Where to get help

The official Discord has pins for trainers, drop tables, and current bugs. The Trello board has the live maps. This wiki has a page for every question that appears after the first hour.

Start with the beginner guide, then the combat QTE page, then configure Trials. That order will save you more lives than any guide on this wiki.
